Weak But Progressing

The photo is from a snow day of last January.

Hadassah is gradually getting rid of various tubes and medicines and is responding well. Yesterday, she got rid of her last chest drainage tube and she has some pain in this area. Her blood pressure is stabilizing.

She is still weak and needs to regain her strength. She sleeps a lot also (partially due to the anit-withdrawl meds). We talk but it takes a lot out of her to do so. She asks me questions that make me know that underneath that weak and helpless girl is the one I know and love. "Mom, have you ever had one of those days where it seems like time is going really fast and really slow at the same time?" She is gradually realizing that it is a week later. Her voice is stronger today than it was yesterday. Hopefully, today she can try to get out of bed and begin eating solids. These would be great next steps.

"The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped."
Psalm 28:7

  3. We are so thankful to our great and glorious God for His miraculous dealings with Hadassah. What amazing progress she has made. Of course, to us it seems fast, but to you, how agonizingly slow. We are still praying for Hadassah, you & Paul, Josiah & Shifrah, and the whole family. You have been quite a part of our Christmas this year!
With our love & continued prayers,
    Jack & Susan

  5. Hadassah is constantly in our thoughts and prayers. The children ask every day how she is doing. We are thankful to hear she is progressing and able to talk to you. We will continue to pray for strength and healing. Taking one day at a time. Much love,
    the Lewis family.

  8. Hi Carol & Paul,
We follow "your "journey" with Hadassah and her new heart on your blog. What a "journey!" Thank you for sharing. Her heart transplant has taken on a new dimension to the meaning of a new heart (Ezek.36:26). Both new hearts required the death of a donor--a human donor and Christ, given by the Father, who gave Himself so the Holy Spirit might create a spiritual heart within her. We pray for both for Hadassah.

  9. Thinking of you. We see the updates from the Koopman families from St. Thomas. This verse has been in my mind lately with all of the suffering we see in our church family. May God encourage you with His truths!
Those who trust in the Lord
    Are like Mount Zion,
Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
    As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So the Lord surrounds His people
From this time forth and forever.
    Psalm 125:1-2
