One Year Ago

It is a rather somber anniversary that we are remembering today. One year ago today, we brought Hadassah to the emergency room because she was having difficulty breathing. We thought she was having athsma problems and that they would clear up her passageway and send us on our way with a puffer.  Never did the thought cross our minds that it would be something as serious as congestive heart failure. It took quite a few days for that reality to sink in.

"So teach us to number our days
that we may gain a heart of wisdom."
Psalm 90:12
.
God has been and continues to be good to us.  Even this past week, Hadassah had another biopsy that showed zero rejection again.  Praising God (again!) for that.

Irene

There's a bit of excitement in the air!  I have never sat in the path of a hurricane before.  We've had "remnants" and tropical storms but not this!  It's interesting to watch the reaction of the kids.  Hadassah is our nay-sayer:  "There're overdoing it.  Exaggerating!  They just want us to watch the news."  No one will ever pull the wool over her eyes; she is on guard 24-7.  And I think Josiah is hoping for some good action.  He has no real concept of danger (and no suspicion of anyone's motives including weathermen) so why not have some fun?

"Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways,
and how small a whisper do we hear of him!
But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
Job 26:13

Ten Years

Yesterday, Aunty Ada reminded me.  Ten years ago, she moved into our home.  And she's been feeding oatmeal to my kids ever since.  She has endured our noise and mischief and moods with grace.  She has doubled her grocery bill for hungry snackers.  She has had her privacy invaded by children attempting to avoid discipline.    She has not wasted one kilowatt and has reduced, reused, recycled long before it was cool.   She has been a godly example to my children in ways that I cannot.    She has solved my problems before I knew I had them.  And she has worked harder than anyone her age should.  And while she'll have you believe that the old is always better, I have sure proof that photo quality wasn't :

Glad to have you with us, Aunty!

Picnic In Central Park

A few weeks ago, we had a family picnic in Central Park.

Central Park is a great place to photograph birds.
They are so used to people, they don't fly away!

And, true to her word, Shifrah didn't step in one puddle!
She was just looking at her "refrection".

Amish Country

With the hubby off on a midwest tour for business this week, the kids and I decided to head out to Amish country.  Time goes quite a bit faster when you're having fun together!
