Always On Her Head

Um . . . don't always believe everything you see . . .

It's March.

Wasn't it just last Friday that I was wearing a tank top, skirt and flip flops?  Haven't we been watching the robins and opening our windows for the fresh Spring air?  And wasn't yesterday the first day of Spring?

But, this is Jersey.  Anything can happen.  It's March.
Pretty, though.

Sabbath Keeping

This past Sunday, Shifrah wanted to do something that we would normally not allow on the Lord's Day.  So, we said "no" and then explained that it was the Lord's Day and that we are to keep it holy.  A few minutes later, she declared her need to use the bathroom facilities, then paused and said, "Mom, are we allowed to use the toilet on the Lord's Day?"

Thanks, Opa & Oma!

When Oma & Opa's grandkids turn ten, they get a new bike.  So, thanks Opa and Oma!

Wanna See A Worm Segment Up Close?

I knew you did.  Besides, Shiffy made me go out in the rain to see it when she found it.  Spring is in the air!

Good Mornin', Q-tip!

Couldn't resist.

The Sound of Music

Shifrah is often upsidedown.  And she's often singing.  So, it's not surprising to find her singing upsidedown.

Happy Birthday, Girl!

On Tuesday, Hadassah celebrated her 12th birthday.  After all that's gone on this past year, we are especially thankful to our Lord for this blessing!  We had a fun day together doing things that Hadassah enjoys and found ourselves outside a store that pierced ears.  Since we had promised she could have her ears pierced when she turned 12, you can just leave it to Hadassah to find a store on that very day.

The Wonders of Science

My Mom and Dad came from Canada this past weekend with my sister and my niece.  When Shifrah discovered Hadassah's Science book, she went from person to person asking for it to be read to her, totally fascinated.  Thankfully, Oma is always willing to read to her grandkids:

And she listened intently to her Aunt Cindy who, being a homeschooler and mom to seven, easily explained to her how birds fly and why pigs can't - even if they did have wings!
And in the meantime, my niece, Kierra, had fun with the kids.  Kierra's cheerfulness was a joy to be around for a few days and she seemed to have just as much fun with whichever of my kids she played.

No Rejection Again!

Yesterday, Hadassah had another biopsy which again showed no rejection.  To put this in a bit of perspective, the doctors have told us that over half of heart transplant recipients show some amount of rejection during the first year.  So, we will thank the good Lord for His continuing grace toward us and lay this next year in His loving Hands.

"Ah Lord God! It is you who has made the heavens and the earth
by your great power and by your outstretched arm!
Nothing is too hard for you."

Spring?

Sledding in 60 Degree Weather

This week, Hadassah was given permission from her doctors to go out in groups and participate in "everything" any other 11-year-old might do.  She can bike and scooter and sled all she wants.  Convenient that her school friends had the day off.

Happy Birthday, Buddy!

I don't know what I'd do without a boy; it opens up a whole new world.  Yesterday was Josiah's 10th birthday and he got what he always wanted - a skateboard.  We've been holding out for years - trying to keep trips to the emergency room to a minimum, but we think he's got a pretty good balance going now. . .
. . . then again, maybe not.
Only Josiah would skateboard in rubber boots!

A Good Mommy

Shiffy's been toilet training one of her "babies".  I think she's having some good success with it.
